Sports Photography

Sports Photography was a project to photograph a ski event by taking a series of shots, choosing some that would best describe this event, and designing a layout of a picture story with photographs and text. I photographed a Ski PD Camp my children attended to tell an authentic story. I set exposure time 1/2000 for skiing shooting. The key photo in the layout was the closing shot of my daughter Jacqueline and her instructor Rick. I increased the aperture (f/2.8) to get a shallow field depth that blurs the background and focuses the subject. The poles pointed to the header and the body text. The sidebar photos presented a series of mid shots of a group of people. The left cut-out photo and the dynamic, transparent triangle shapes emphasized the sports theme.
